These terms apply to everyone who uses this website and the booking service behind it. Read them before sending anything through the form.

What this service does

Mold Removal Nassau County is a booking and referral service. We take requests from people who own, rent, or are buying or selling homes in Nassau County, New York, and we arrange separately licensed New York contractors for mold assessment, mold remediation and water damage drying. Arranging that work is all we do.

We are not a mold assessment contractor and we are not a mold remediation contractor, and nothing on this site means otherwise. We do not inspect, sample, remove, dry or clear anything ourselves. The contractor you are booked with does the work, holds the license and insurance that work requires, sets its own price and makes its own agreement with you.

Why we are so direct about that

Section 931 of the New York Labor Law makes it unlawful to perform mold assessment or mold remediation on a project without the matching license, and equally unlawful to advertise or present yourself as that kind of contractor without one. Section 930 defines a project as work on an area larger than ten square feet. This site explains the licensed work so you can decide what you need. It does not offer to do that work.

Two licenses, two companies

Under section 936 of the Labor Law, no licensee may perform both the mold assessment and the mold remediation on the same property, and no person may own an interest in both licensees on that property. When a job needs both, you will deal with two unconnected firms. Wherever this site says licensed or insured, it describes the contractor who takes your job, not this service. You can check any contractor's license yourself on the New York State Department of Labor's public records, and complaints about mold work go to the Department of Labor.

Section 933 exempts a residential owner who works on their own property from mold licensing. If the job is one you can do and choose to do, nothing here obliges you to book anyone.

Prices

This site does not quote prices and nothing on it is an estimate. The price of a job is the one the contractor gives you in writing after seeing the property. Where a page repeats a dollar amount from a public source, such as flood insurance totals from the county's hazard mitigation plan, it is reported as that source gives it and is not a price, a rate or a range for any work.

The $100 credit

Where this site shows the $100 credit, its terms are set out beside the request form and on the confirmation page, and those terms govern it. The credit comes from us, not from the contractor, and it does not change the contractor's price.

Public figures on these pages

Figures about groundwater, housing and flooding come from named public sources: United States Geological Survey maps, reports and well measurements, American Community Survey estimates from the US Census Bureau, the 2021 Nassau County Hazard Mitigation Plan, NOAA climate normals, and federal and state agency guidance. USGS well readings are measurements taken at one place on one date, the USGS water-table map carries its own stated margin of error, and Census figures are survey estimates with margins of error. Where a page groups well readings by part of the county, that grouping is ours, not a USGS finding. None of these sources says how far down the water sits under a particular house, or whether a particular street, block or address floods, and we make no such claim. Nothing on this site says the county, a town, a village or a sewer or water district has fixed, funded or completed any drainage or groundwater work.

Government agencies

This site is not connected with Nassau County, any city, town or village in it, or any state or federal agency. Mold contractor licenses in New York are issued by the State Department of Labor. The Nassau County Department of Health publishes general mold guidance and a telephone contact for questions, and does not describe any mold licensing, testing or inspection service. Where a page summarizes what an agency does, the agency's own published words govern.

Wells, cesspools and septic systems

We do not test drinking water wells and we do not inspect cesspools or septic systems, and no contractor is booked through this site for that purpose. If a backup from a cesspool or septic system is involved, say so in the message, because it changes what an assessor will need to know.

These pages explain how mold and water problems tend to work in this county. They are general information, not legal, medical, insurance or engineering advice, and they do not replace an inspection of your property. For a health question, ask a doctor. For a question about a lease, a sale or an insurance claim, ask the right professional.

Limits of our responsibility

We take care in choosing the contractors we book, but the work itself, its quality, timing and price are between you and the contractor. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for what a contractor does or fails to do, for loss arising from work we did not perform, or for decisions you make based on general information on this site. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot lawfully be limited.

Using the site

Please use the request form only for genuine requests about a property you own, live in, or are buying or selling. Do not submit another person's details without their permission, send automated submissions, or interfere with how the site works.

Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. We may update them, and the version on this page when you send a request is the one that applies to that request.
